Cloud and DevOps roadmap
You run the servers, the cloud and the automation that lets teams ship software many times a day without breaking things. Many people start in IT support and move here.
A normal day
- Automate an app’s deployment
- Handle alerts when something goes down
- Cut this month’s cloud bill
You’ll like it if…
- You like the terminal and automating tasks
- You stay calm when things break
- You are curious how the internet works inside
How to start in Cloud and DevOps from zero
Months 0–3: the basics
- Linux and the terminal
- Networking basics
- A scripting language (Bash or Python)
Months 3–6: your first projects
- One cloud: AWS, Azure or GCP
- Docker
- CI/CD with GitHub Actions
Months 6–12: ready to apply
- Infrastructure as code (Terraform)
- Kubernetes basics
- An entry-level cloud certification
First jobs
- IT Support
- Junior Cloud Engineer
- Junior DevOps
Portfolio projects
- A website with automatic deploys
- A server with monitoring and alerts
- Infrastructure built with Terraform
Tools
- Linux
- AWS
- Azure
- Docker
- Kubernetes
- Terraform

Official data for Peru
Databases, networks and IT support: median monthly pay S/ 1,790. Half earn between S/ 1,150 and S/ 2,940.
- Up to age 29: S/ 1,470
- Age 30 and over: S/ 2,280
National Household Survey (INEI) 2022–2024, 366 people surveyed, weighted to represent the country. It is a broad group: the survey does not separate Cloud and DevOps from other jobs in the group.
Young (18–29) institute graduates in Ciencias de la Computación: average S/ 1,972 a month, most between S/ 1,000 and S/ 3,400.
Payroll records 2020, graduates 2017-2019. It is old data: treat it as a reference floor.
Where these numbers come from
- Pay by experience: Stack Overflow Developer Survey, Stack Exchange Inc., surveys 2024–2026, 1,434 salaries from 17 countries, converted to USD by Stack Overflow. License Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0; our derived data is published under the same license. Respondents often work remotely for foreign companies, so figures may be above the local average.
- Peru figure: MINEDU y MTPE, Ponte en Carrera (Planilla Electrónica / Padrón de Egresados); INEI, Encuesta Nacional de Hogares (ENAHO), módulo de empleo e ingresos, 2022–2024: monetary income from the main job, in soles.
